02 Roof shape

Pitch is rise per 12″ horizontal run. Overhangs are measured horizontally. Roof planes show surface geometry; rafters, trusses and connections are not sized.

Rough openings, seen from outside. Measure the left edge from the left end of this wall’s frame. Side walls fit between the front and back frames.

Wall layouts use a single bottom plate, double top plates, two studs at each wall end and plate stock up to 16 ft. Gable and sloped end walls follow the roof profile with sloped plates. Extra corner backing and roof framing are separate.

The allowance applies to sheets and coverage quantities. It does not add spare lumber.

Gable and sloped walls use plates following the roof line. The high-point figure is the wall profile above the floor; roof thickness, foundation height and any high-side overhang rise are additional. This is a planning model, not a permit drawing.

Start with the space you need.

Enter outside dimensions, choose the roof, then place clear rough openings. Review all four walls before saving or printing. A smaller footprint can still need a wider door for a mower, tools or workbench.
