Field and border stock stay separate for different profiles or colours. Spares are rounded to whole boards within each profile.

Lengths are blank sizes. Mitred borders use the longest points; confirm corner gaps, notches and final rips against the installed frame. F = field, B = border. Displayed dimensions are rounded to 1/16 inch; the calculations retain full precision. Verify the layout before cutting.

One rectangular or L-shaped footprint, straight field courses, selected picture-frame edges, a fixed regular joist grid, supported field-joint stations where possible, and stock packing with saw kerf. Allowances do not supply missing support. Breaker boards, diagonal layouts, fascia, stair treads and structural design are separate.
Plan the whole field
See every board.
Know what to order.
One outline, continuous courses
The L-shape subtracts a corner from the overall deck. Board courses follow that outline, including any notched piece at the inside corner. Selected borders reduce the field before the course count is calculated.
Compare the stock you can get
Enable available lengths and enter their prices. Each option has its own cut plan, joints, allocated offcuts and spare boards. Longer stock can reduce joints; mixed lengths can fit shorter cuts more efficiently.
Keep framing tied to the site
Changing the decking direction leaves the joists where you entered them. Use the joist overlay and support notes to identify details that need attention, then verify the actual framing and decking manufacturer’s requirements.
Confirm the framing and material details.
This is a decking layout and purchase planner. The regular joist grid does not size the structure or verify bearing, permitted spans, rim positions, cantilevers, border blocking, ledgers or connectors. Confirm dimensions, board profiles, gaps, end trimming, fastening and support before ordering or cutting.
